Introduction to the Working Rule Agreement

The Construction Industry Joint Council (CIJC) has released updates to the Working Rule Agreement for 2024-2025, effective from 24th June 2024. The changes include new basic minimum pay rates for operatives and craft workers, and updated apprentice rates based on training year.

Basic Rates of Pay

For general operatives, the new basic rate of pay is set at £466.05 per week, equivalent to 1195 pence per hour. Various skill rates have also been defined: Skill Rate 4 is now £485.16 per week (1244 pence per hour), Skill Rate 3 is £513.24 per week (1316 pence per hour), Skill Rate 2 is £548.73 per week (1407 pence per hour), and Skill Rate 1 is £569.40 per week (1460 pence per hour). For craft rates, the pay is established at £598.26 per week, translating to 1534 pence per hour.
