Introduction
This Strategic Plan sets forth the CITB’s strategy to tackle the key skills challenges in the construction industry from 2021 to 2025. Construction is a vital sector of the UK economy, employing over 2.7 million people and contributing 8% of the country’s output. To support major infrastructure projects, housing development, and the transition to a net-zero carbon economy, a consistent supply of skilled workers is essential.
Skills Challenges in Construction
The CITB Strategic Plan 2021-25 addresses critical skills challenges anticipated in the construction industry over the next four years. With over 2.7 million employees and significant economic impact, construction is pivotal to infrastructure development and economic growth. Challenges include meeting demands from major projects like HS2, modernizing housing, and achieving net zero carbon goals through both new builds and retrofits.
