The National Federation of Builders (NFB) has partnered with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to help SME members access vital advice and guidance to protect against cyber incidents. This document serves as an introduction and overview of cybersecurity practices and is the first in a series of guides to be released this year.

Introduction
With construction being one of the top three industries affected by cybercrime, it is essential for businesses to enhance their cybersecurity measures. This guidance provides steps to report incidents, basic security recommendations, and resources for improving cybersecurity practices.
How to Report Incidents
- Reporting Cybersecurity Incidents: If your business experiences a cybersecurity incident, report it to the NCSC via this one-page form.
- Reporting Phishing Emails and Texts: Forward suspicious emails to the Suspicious Email Reporting Service (SERS) at report@phishing.gov.uk. Forward suspicious texts to 7726 (free of charge). By 31st May 2021, over 6.1 million reports led to the removal of more than 45,000 scams and 90,000 URLs.
