Introduction

With the introduction of government schemes like the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation, insulating solid walls in traditional buildings has become a significant focus. External wall insulation (EWI) offers a viable alternative to internal insulation, especially for traditionally constructed properties where aesthetics allow. However, implementing EWI involves addressing various technical and practical considerations. This report explores three recently completed EWI projects in Northern England, providing detailed analyses and insights from each case to inform future endeavors and highlight areas needing further research.
