This policy requires producers and importers to provide detailed information on the chemicals they handle, ensuring safer use and reducing health and environmental risks.

Chemicals and a Strong Industry

Chemicals are integral to modern products, providing essential properties like softness, firmness, and durability. Since 1930, global chemical production has surged from 1 million to over 400 million tonnes annually. The EU’s chemicals industry is a key economic sector, employing 1.9 million people across 31,000 companies and leading globally with 33% of the world’s chemical sales in 2004.
