Overview

The Building Safety Act 2022 (applicable to England and Wales) is now in force, the transitional period having closed on 6 April 2024. If you build anything, the Act ensures all projects have a Building Regulation compliance obligation in both design and construction. When building, designing, constructing & management the following elements are key for consideration.

For High Risk Buildings (HRB), The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will act as the sole Building Safety Regulator and a ‘Gateway Process’ must be followed to achieve compliance. Non HRB’s will go through the traditional Building Control process; however, whoever provides this service must be a registered Building Control Approver. on non-high-risk buildings goes through the “traditional” process.
